Leaders of the Atlanta-based American Transaction Processors Coalition (ATPC) conceive the idea of P20 and organize a meeting in London with representatives of the UK payments industry, government and regulators.
The P20 Board agrees to focus their efforts in 2017/18 on four pillars that are critical to the global payments industry:
In October 2017, the inaugural P20 conference is held at Lancaster House in London and is attended by over 150 senior payment executives, legislators, regulators and academia.
P20 hosts a cyber attack simulation at IBM’s laboratories beginning the process of creating industry-wide protocols.
P20 hosts its second global conference in Atlanta attracting over 200 participants. Progress is reported on each of the four pillars.
P20 Board agrees a work program for each pillar for 2019.
Third global P20 conference opens in London on October 3.
